Miss Behave & The Irresistibles
Swamp, Blues, Soul

Denise "Miss Behave" Marie
Guitars, Vocals, Songwriting, Percussion

Denise Marie was born with a Gypsy soul. The Upstate New York farm couldn't hold her so at sixteen she moved to the wild west of New Mexico where she befriended Hippies, Cowgirls, Indians and studied jazz guitar. But when she learned to finger-pick the blues a whole new universe of possiblities opened up. In 1995 she moved to the center of music on planet earth, New Orleans, where she was encouraged to perform the original songs she had hidden in an old shoe box. There she embraced trumpets, saxophones, Cuban percussion, violins and well..... just about eveything to do with music, BIG HUG. She recorded with such legends as Johnny Vidocovich, James Singleton, "Sunpie" Barnes and has worked with a list of talented musicians too long to mention here! By 2005, she had toured in Europe several times and was there when hurricane Katrina blasted old New Orleans. As a result she lived in Europe for almost two years and now divides her time between N'awlins and Europe. "Miss Behave and The Irresistibles" was born in a bar in Rotterdam. DM released a new CD with them ("Backbone" October 2009.) DM was named "Miss Behave" (for obvious reasons) by a Dutch medicine man who taught her the secret of good olliebollen. You wanna know the secret? Keep listening.....
*Denise Marie plays electric, acoustic and tenor guitars, sings, writes music and songs and plays the riqq (middle eastern tambourine).
